Well done!,
As long as the car is taxed too youd be able to drive it. If you were unlucky enough to get stopped the police would either check the database or call your insurace company to see if its insured.
When you get the policy docs remember not to keep them in the car£10 a day in Feb £55/£290....0 -
yes it is taxed and mot'd etc.
after i have bought it i can insure it then? i don't have to wait for a policy to come through?
thanks again0 -
As long as everything is legal, you can drive it straight away. I already had a car and drove about 10 minutes after passing. Well done and safe motoring.0

When you insure online, it will ask what time you want the insurance to start from, after that time, you are insured, they will send the policies through after, but you dont need to wait for them to arrive. So long as its after the date and time stated, you are insured. Its all on the police national computer anyway, so you are OK if you get pulled up or are involved in an accident, the police basically know who is insured and who isnt from the datatbase. They no longer issue "producers" where you have to take the documents to the station.0

No no no
The Motor Insurance Database (MID) is not updated instantaneously. It takes up to a week from inception or amendment of a policy for the data to show on MID.
So a police officer may call the Police Helpline for additional information, or just issue a producer. They do still issue producers, frequently - as ultimately the only proof of cover is a valid certificate of insurance.
The OP should just write down the name of his insurer, policy number and their customer services phone number, which will make life easier if he is unlucky enough to be stopped before receiving his documents.0 -
Also, some policies allow the policyholder to drive any car not owned by them. Therefore it would not show on the MID as that driver being insured to drive that car but the driver would still have insurance. The police should issue a producer and the driver would have to present their insurance policy. No no no
