Samsung Plasma Screen stays on in Standby

I have a new Samsung Plasma 42" TV and would like to know whether it is normal that when the TV is in standby, the screen stays lit (non-black) permanently.
Test carried out as follows:
1) Press power off button on TV (or remote) and TV goes into standby. The screen actually flicks completely black, then comes back slightly grey.
2) It stays in this slightly glowing non-black state permanently ( I thought it may just be cooling down, but have left it all night and it is still not "off" in the morning, still lit up). At night time, the screen is quite clearly still receiving power and is not off.
3) There is still a lot of heat being generated when TV is in standby (even in the morning when been off all night) from the back
4) When the TV is switched off at the mains, the TV makes an audible click and the screen quite clearly goes completely black
5) When the mains power is switched back on, the screen returns immediately to a glowing grey, even though in standby mode still
Does anybody else have this problem? Has anyone else experienced this, or is it as strange as I think it is?!
Any help much appreciated,
D

I'd suggest that you enter the setup menu (the OSD) for the TV and look for "power save" options.
You'll probably find several modes - it sounds like the one currently selected is optimised for fast power-on, rather than power saving.0 -
Just yesterday bought a Samsung Plasma 42 inch (PN42B450) and took notice of this very thing when I shut it off at night (actually, I noticed the non-black aspect in the morning as I was leaving for work). I just read in the manual:
Energy Saving Feature:
Off : Switches off the Energy Saving mode.
Low : Operates in standard mode.
Medium : Enters medium power saving mode.
High : Enters maximum power saving mode.
Ours must be off? It's too bad the manual doesn't tell you what each level of the energy saving feature is actually doing. I've looked all over and no one seems to know.
Anyone?0
