chase your estate agents , they chase the chain weekly sometimes daily if a problem has occurred and they will contact each agent in the chain, with regard to the survey report again chase the agent to contact your buyer to find out what is happening, keep asking questions and chase the exchange. Once you agree a sale get the buyers/vendors telephone numbers and keep talking to each other.
main hold up is usually ftbyrs not having their deposits ready, they give cheques which take time to clear and some forget to even give notice to their saving account provider that they wish to withdraw funds, remember it can take 30 days.
PS also ask the question when was the gas boiler serviced? etc
