Apologies if this is not in the right place, feel free to move it.
I recently joined a gambling website and deposited £100 over a few visits. I had not recieved my sign up bonus so queried it with their customer support.
Today I recieved an email saying:
"You recently contacted our Customer Service Team, so we are sending
you this email to summarise your request and our response.
We hope you're happy with the resolution of your issue, but if you
aren't you can reopen it within the next 7 days by replying to this
email. ..... During routine administration, we have noticed that you have registered an account with us using a Solo card.
Although not always the case, this type of card is often issued to younger people and, potentially, to customers under 18 years of age.
In a proactive move to prevent underage players from accessing our services, we have taken the decision to request proof of age before we can allow this type of card to be used on our site. Your account is temporarily on hold, however if you would be so kind as to send us the ID requested below which shows that you are over the age of 18, we will be delighted to reinstate your account."
They requested I send proof of my id,copies of cards and signatures etc.
I replied that I was not happy to send them this information as it could be used to steal my identity. I also said that if they had reason to suspect that my use of a solo card could indicate that I was under 18 then they should not have accepted the money I deposited. I advised them that I would be looking into taking this further but I really don't know where to go.
I just find it hard to believe that they would take £100 off someone they suspect to be underage!

This is quite standard for gambling and betting sites. If you look at the Gambling Loopholes board, you will see that many people are asked.Gone ... or have I?0

I can understand them asking but surely they should have done this prior to taking any money from me. I have been on sites where they request confirmation before letting you deposit, but how can they say "thanks for your money but we're not sure you're legally allowed to gamble"?:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0

Perhaps they have had a recent change of policy, and therefore are needing to backtrack?Gone ... or have I?0

All my visits were over the course of 12 hours.:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0

In that case, pass! But definitely pay a visit to the Gambling Loopholes board, someone there will know the answer xGone ... or have I?0

I'd say this is fairly standard actually (not that I ever use a Solo card) - I use a Visa Debit card and often have to provide ID - normally a scan of my passport and my debit card (although I usually black out some numbers and often password protect with my user name at that site so that if it's intercepted they can't read it).
