Insurance purchase:what are my rights?

I purchased a Reids sofa which was delivered on time and I am very happy with. However, when I purchased it I wanted it to be Scotch-guarded. The salesman advised me to purchase the supercover insurance policy. I told him I didn't want insurance just the protective spray. He told me that I had to buy the package as they were not sold seperately but could cancel the insurance as long as I forfieted 20% for the cost of the Scotch-guard. 3months later, I have, after many phone calls to customer service finally received my insurance certificate (this was meant to be delivered within 30days) and have been told that I am not entitled to cancel it because my sofa has been scotchguarded. I feel that i have been deliberately misled and mis-sold this product. I only have my word against the salesmans though. What rights do I have?
