    Of course you wouldnt have to pay the difference that housing benefit didnt cover if your parents didnt insist. Sadly mine did insist. Although they later allowed my sister to live in it without paying the top up amount because she couldnt be bothered to get a job whereas I worked and had two babies. Yes I am bitter - sorry.
    This scenario would almost certainly result in a fraud investigation from your first intervention(check up) as we check bank statements to ensure that the rent agreement is on a commercial basis and being paid, and most landlords do not allow tenants to pay a reduced rent because that is all the HB that they receive.

    You would then have to pay back your HB as it would have been a contrived tenancy from the start, so if you cant afford the rent, please think carefully before committing to it.
