before i buy, do you think they are any good. i previously bought cheap french taps, but only before i sold my flat, so they looked great, but don't know how long they lasted. i know there is a five year warranty, but the cost of a plumber to replace it..............
anyone bought them before0 -
Should do. These taps are presumably made for the British market, not the French. However, I bought a cheap single mixer tap from France and that fitted my sink and pipework no problem. The lever on mine is made of chromed plastic, the rest is metal. I've had that over a year and it still works fine. No dripping taps as you get with traditional taps with washers.wadewade wrote:Interesting comment above re French measurements.
Do you think the single mixer tap for sinks will fit the hole in a British sink?Science without religion is lame,

Was looking at these taps, etc., in our local Lidl (in France) this week, and they seemed of good quality - they certainly weighed a lot!
Sometimes items are sold first here in France, at other times they're sold first in the UK or Germany. I subscribe to Lidl's newsletters in all three countries!Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
I hope some of you had better luck than me today

I visited three local(ish) Lidl stores this morning in London : Edgware Road, Blackbird Hill and Wembley. I was after the sink tap for £9.99 but the nearest I came to it was an empty box!
At the Wembley branch I found one of the shower valves discarded by the checkouts. Nice unit, weighed a ton, but sadly not what I was after.
I hope there is a better supply where you all are.

my local store also sold out of all taps by 10am0

I got the chrome thermostatic shower mixer at 9am for £14.99 and its excellent quality (heavy!), better than the £99 one I looked in Focus.
I see on Ebay some guy has 3 of them listed today
starting at £20+£7 shipping, thats why such unusual item sell out FAST!
be watching the item to see how much I could have made.

Usually Lidl only get Ten each of the special offer items, so you must join the 9am queue if you are going to stand a chance of getting a "desirable" item.
The kitchen taps I got last time are solid chrome plated brass,so I expect these to be so, and the guarantee has gone up from three to five years.
A word of warning though, they are meant for mains pressure hot water, ie, from a combi boiler. No good if you have a cylinder fed from the loft, as when you turn tap to mix, the cold will rush up the hot pipes as pressure is higher.

My local store stocked more of these specials than usual and rightly so... I had to queue up outside for about 10 minutes and there was a big rush when the doors opened. I was crafty and went down the isle oposite the taps and reached across as there were swarms of people around these taps...
There was at least 20-30 of each item and I managed to buy just what I wanted:
2 x sink taps, 1 x luxury shower, 1 x thermo shower valve and 1 x bath/shower tap...
They all look and feel great and can't wait to fit them to my new home... :-)

I know this is an old thread but as Lidl have the thermo shower valve back on offer I would be interested to find out how anyone that fitted one of these the first time around did it.
There is no bracket included to hold the unit to the wall (it looks like the Bath mixer tap & the ordinary Shower mixer tap are the same)
…So I can only imagine that you would have to rely on the pipes to hold it to the wall?
How did you guys fix it securely to the wall then?
