Best place to sell magazines?

Hi

We've done 2 car boots this year, and have found quite a few old magazines, i.e. fitness ones, electronics ones and ones such as New Woman - we took some with us the last car boot but no one seemed interested - no one really looked at them never mind buy them.

Can anyone suggest where to sell these please, the two we've done this year have been inside and we'll probably do them for a few times during the year and a couple of outside ones too but wait until it's a bit warmer!

I've taken loads of magazines to a car boot I did and only sold a few for about 10p each.

If they are specialist ones they sometimes sell on ebay, especially if you are willing to post overseas to people who might not be able to get them over there. But the postage price often puts people off if they are heavy.

I mostly get rid of mine through charity shops, doctors surgeries or freecycle. No money to be made but at least they get recycled....

    Hi Annie

Tried putting them on ebay last year (Electronics ones) sold 4 out of around 50, will try again soon and try them in a car boot but will recycle them or give to charity - a friend will try and sell them to scouts club she's with if I get no luck in next few weeks.

I've sold magazines on eBay. Part of the trick was to get all the right key words into the title so prospective buyers found the listing. If you were wanting to buy your mags what would you be searching on? Look for anyone selling similar ones and see how they have described them, particularly the title. But it is a lottery - there are few buyers for most old mags but if he or she happens to be looking when you're listing you could get lucky. 10 day auctions went best for me and in one case a collector emailed me to ask if I had any more and I ended up selling the lot to him - price wasn't great but a bird in the hand... If you're shipping loads to one address it can be cheaper to use someone like TNT rather than Royal Mail.

I dabble in sci fi mags and used to sell about 40-50% of what I listed. However that started to drop unti lI was only selling about 25% of those listed and that was too expensive. All I do now is watch the category, and when I see another seller is having luck with a particular magazine,I list some from that set. There is also another way of selling which is a bit morbid, wait for an actor to die and then sell magazines that feature him or her as people like to remember characters or actors in their popular roles. Sci fi tends to attract serious collectors and most oft he cult stuff is getting a bit old, so it isn't easy money as sometimes I am selling magazines that are 10+ years old.
