Cheap flights needed to Cyprus (Larnaca) in April - help!

I've just been invited over for a week or so by some friends who live in Cyprus, but money is short and the flights are looking pricey - anyone know of anywhere that does really cheap flights from Manchester? The usual searches are coming in at around £250 return.
Also, can anyone recommend a good (but budget friendly) car hire firm whilst out there?

Easyjet have just bought out GB Air and now fly MAN to Paphos, which is t'other end of Cyprus.

A taxi from Paphos to Larnaca will take about 2 hours and cost between £50 and £100 depending on the time of day.
