Wedding in Florida

Options
Hi,
we are looking to get married next April. I would like to combine the wedding with a good holiday and fancied Florida. My girlfriend is not too keen and she wants a traditional church one here which will cost a fortune and to be honest I think that it will be dull.

Has anyone got married in Florida or somewhere else that was good? Any info would be great

I think it might be a good idea to sit down the 2 of you and discuss exactly what you both want for your wedding day. What your priorities are and which parts of things are important to each of you.
If having her family there is vital, or having it in a church is vital then please respect that... There is no need for it to cost a fortune! I know there are people on here who have done it for £1000 if not less! Personally we're having a pretty big reception and including our honeymoon our budget is £7000. (£5000 is the wedding etc food, flowers, venue, registrar, decorations, hotel rooms for 2 nights, DJ, piper, BM dresses, rings, everything really...)
So don't write off getting married in the UK on the count of cost if that is what your girlfriend has always dreamed off... It has to be special for BOTH of you :)

AFAIR Florida is not that easy to get married as, say, Nevada. I think you have to apply for a marriage license thirty days before the act in Florida. So make it a long holiday :rotfl:.

Florida is easy to get married in..... you dont need to wait 30 days. And there are some really lovely places to get married there.... but you need to talk it over with your partner, its a special day that both of you need to be happy with.

I agree if you can't agree on where/how you get married then t does not bode well for the future. Florida is great but only if you both want that!!!!
  • That's it then it's all off.... only joking. Thanks for your comments. We've been going out for 11 years so there is no problem there. The money isn't really the issue (although I think to speand thousands of pounds on one day is sickening and not special at all). I just find run of the mill weddings dull and lifeless. It seems to be a licence for others to print money.
