But Darren ... it states that very clearly on both the application form and in numerous places in the brochure!

Exactly - Which is why I was confused by what they were originally saying.

If I have 200k in total would this be a wise use of 5k as part of a portfolio which has a safe 30k cash tied up in index linked saving certificates?

Thanks for any suggestions as to the value of this one.

It would only be 2.5% of your total portfolio - Doesn't sound bad to me.

Seems quite low to me on that total amount invested. The volatility of this product is quite low.

    Where's the other £165k?

Awaiting probate ... some investments got released without probate... I became debt free last year so have only just started in savings (ISA) and investments, just started a H-L S&S might post that soon just to give you more experienced people a laugh :)

I am going DIY on my disposable income from my salary (will drip feed another 3.6k into next years S&S) and have decided, having spent alot of time here, that for the main inheritance, when I get it, I will pay for an IFA to give (sic.) me advice, and also ask some stupid questions here.

    Thanks,

printing off the premiere application now ...

Just sent off my application, but wondering whether I have done the right thing - considering that the FTSE100 seems to be dropping by the day :(

    Good news innit?

Buying at a lower point, then it's much easier to be higher next year.

If it was still at 6700, you might even have a slight worry that the price could fall below 50%.

I have been mentioning this investment to my brother in law and he is interested.

He has asked about investing outside an ISA (as I have done), and is asking about Capital Gains Tax.

What is the maximum you could invest (assuming that it lasts for the full 6 years), without having to pay any capital gains tax ?

    Thanks

If the premier one does go the full distance and gets the maximum in the final year and you assume a £10k CGT allowance then you are really looking at £10k each as being the amount you can invest without worrying about CGT.

When this was first mentioned it seemed a very good deal so I got the application form which is now sitting on my desk ready to send off.

Do any of the financial problems over the past month have any effect on this product, one way or the other, or is it still looking good?
    Waddle you do eh?
