For some reason I think it was Dulux .......and I know that the word moss was in the colour name. If I can find the tin I'll let you know

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
I like it too - I love old fashioned paisley eiderdowns, crochet granny square blankets in beautiful colours, chintzy china, bits of old lace, beautiful embroidered white cotton table cloths etc.

I have a HUGE great enamel pot with a lid which is labelled "BREAD" and I do keep bread in it. But it also has rings on the base so it is designed to be used on a ring and can be used as a whacking great cooking pot. I must have had it 10 years now and it is fabulous for doing curries, boiling turkey carcase, soups etc. I would be lost without it.

I don't however like much other enamel stuff - it kind of "bothers" my teeth!:o I really like stuff to be functional and attractive and not just for display.

I had an old enamel bread bin and used it for its purpose -it had a sillouette of two bakers on the top..............gave up using it in the finish when it got past its sell by date but its now kicking around in our 'junk room' till I decide whether there might be an alternative use for it.
I bought a wooden bread bin from the second hand shop for £1 with a floral design painted on the front. OH laughed and said it wouldn't last but 4 years on and its still there.

Got enamel flour bin and sugar container in the pantry and they came from my grans.............can't part with them and wish I had somewhere to display them but I don't.

So glad there is a shabby chic thread have this style at home cath kidston. Love the colours, prints , chintz, embroidery, eiderdowns, vintage and the great thing is you can pick peices up for next to nothing

    here are some websites too

    www.greengate.uk

I always look in the cath kidston catalogue and recreate it at a fraction of the cost. I so love the style and its timeless, hubby has to like it or he can lump it!, but he loves it. I even bought him a floral shirt, he hasnt worn it yet though!!

I dont think the links are working sos

  • I saw the Cath Kidston crochet throw, £160 I'm recreating that at the moment. I'm also making some aprons, pegbags, drawstring bags etc.

  • I love shabby chic but I am totally clueless when it comes to creating a look! My house is just cream really with bits of darher creams and browns.

My lovely mum said she'll pay for me to have my lounge and dinning room done in the summer :T so if anyone has any colour scheme ideas i'd be grateful. I have a dado rail round the room and the floor is wooden. I'm totally stuck

  • what about a pale shabby chic blue beneath the dado rail and an antique cream above it.. would look lovely wiht the wood floor .. add lots of stripped pine furniture and lace bits!!
