breadmaking mistake

I've just realised as I put the flour away that I've used plain flour instead of bread flour DOH. Is there any chance it will come out edible? if not anyone got any ideas what I can do with it other than breadcrumbs or ducks?

Panic ye not!:D Some of us stopped buying expensive bread flour yonks ago and only ever use plain/all purpose flour. Even Delia agrees that HM bread made with plain flour is better than shopbought. Let us know your results.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

there are a whole bunch of bread pudding recipes both sweet and savoury in the Cooking section of the MEGA Index sticky

Well it's fab. If anything, I think I prefer it. What's the thinking behind bread flour then? what is is supposed to do differently? This seems much lighter - the inside seems less dense more fluffy. I loved the other bread but am thinking this will be better for barmcakes as they seemed a bit too much like mini loaves to fill. Serendipity in action.0

The bread flour is supposed to be made from grains that have more gluten (or whatever it is) that makes bread rise than "ordinary" flours.
If plain works for you then use it and be happy

I've got a Morphy Richards 48220 that I bought from an ad in the local paper for £15. Not bought shop bread since. My family thought I'd use it once and then not bother. That's two gadgets they were wrong about cos i use my cappuccino machine every day too (I force myself to not use it more)penrith wrote:which breadmaker have you got Misty?0 -
I've got some plain flour bread on the go right now, not fully risen yet but already rising better than the strong flour did. I'll let you know how it goes on
