Hi guys,
I have a basic account with Abbey and have had it for over 1.5 years.
I have never been overdrawn. Im in about £4.5K credit at the mot, which i intend to turn into about £50K in about 3.5 years (aiming high) for the grand old 3-0 milestone.
Ok so the deal is everytime i call Abbey for a balance or whatever, they always ask me to upgrade my account. The problem is that i tryed this in the outset and was refused based on bad credit. 1.5 years later Abbey keeps nagging me to upgrade and each time i explain that it was a problem at th outset therefore it would be a waste of my time to come into the branch. They insisted that i was a "preferred" customer and that they can override that decision etc.
So i thought what the hell and went in about 15 mins ago only to be told "Mr. X (and no im not an X-Men/X-Man) we tryed to submit your new account yesterday and the credit wouldnt allow us to do so.
So a wasted journey, time etc.
Anyways as its been an issue for some time, i was thinking of getting my credit report but the 2 big names, Equifax and Experian, only take major credit cards or Switch, which i dont have.
Is there any good credit report place where i can obtain and purchase my report via Paypal?
I think this stems from when i was really badly overdrawn with RBS back in the day and failed to make payments. Therefore my account was closed by them and i was forced to pay about £1,110 and i did. I was not allowed to join RBS ever again.
Then i opened a new account with Abbey.(basic).
The irony is that i actually claimed back £1,400 for the fees RBS charged me by following the guidelines on this site. - Great i know but i think that the fiasco has tainted my profile.
Now if im right, is there a way i can erase and make my record look squeaky clean or at least enough to obtain credit.
I was a foolish boy at that time who has since transformed into a responsible man (haha)
Thanks
Sho!

No Paypal as far as I know, but you can write them an old-fashioned letter and send a cheque for £2. See Martin's credit score article for template letters. If you have a debit card I think you can use that for Experian's website or on the phone - Martin's article has the links to go to.
Don't bother with any of the more expensive services from credit reference agencies, not worth the money IMHO.0
