I got the cop-op cashminder a/c - applied over the phone and it was accepted, and had the info pack and electron card through in a week. Didnt even ask me for ID. Spot on I would say.

As for 'the crappy electron card' I personally have had no real problems with it. The only problems I have had is booking trains online, ordering Tesco's online and booking Travel Inns/Lodges online so I don't think that is to bad really

Have you used the Electron in a Tesco shop?
  • everyone seems to overlook the Think Banking account!!! I opened it just before Bankrupcy and think its ace, I got a debit card (maestro) which is exactly the same as my old Natwest one, it works evrywhere, you can do telephone banking, direct debits the lot, in fact when i come out of Bankrupcy even if offered a normal account will stick with this one, because you cant go overdrawn. Think the account fee is £12 a month, but the OR acepted it, and i think is worth it so i don't have to walk round with a crappy electron card that half of places dosn't exist>>>>>>>>
To be honest, I don't think you're getting a good deal. Firstly, the "crappy electron card" is accepted in most circumstances - there's only one company that I use regularly who won't accept it online, & it's to do with how their website is set up because if I ring the office, they'll take the card for a payment over the phone. I also have a cashplus Mastercard as a back-up, which I can use on every other occasion & that coasts me £4.95pm or £1 per use depending on how I set up the acount. That's a saving of £7.55pm on what you pay, with the additional flexibility of having the two cards. :)
