Hi guys,
Am planning to goto Scotland for a 5-6days with my girlfriend from this weekend. Will be driving up there and staying in B+B's which I will probably find when I get there. Am interested in scenery but also in doing some activites such as cycling, jet skiing if possible AND good seafood is a must!!
My plans are to goto Loch Lomond and the west coast including Oban and possibly Plockton and discover that area before maybe heading to the Trossachs and Edinburgh.
Does anyone have any tips as to where to go and what to do?
Thanks so much for your help
Dave

There is so much to do in Scotland, esp if the weather stays like this (27 today !)
Oban and that whole area is gorgeous and on the road through to Fort William etc. (massive mountains). Ben Nevis is just north of Fort William and you can do hill walking, get the cable car to the top for lunch etc.
North of there is a lovely wee place called Fort Augustus where Loch Ness starts and of course many many beautiful castles along the way.
Don't have my map of Scotland to hand, but there is a GORGEOUS scenic drive to be done near Loch Laggan (Monarch of the Glen country) which will not be too far from where you are planning. This is my favourite drive in the whole of Scotland, but the road number has gone out of my head.
You are doing the right thing by just finding B & B's when you get there. It might be busy season, but there will always be somewhere to lay your head and get an almighty large Scottish breakfast in the morning. Best to get a feel of a place and if there is enough to do in the evening rather than book ahead.
Trossachs and surrounding area is lovely, as is the area around Lochearnhead heading towards Perthshire and Perth itself which is only an hour from Edinburgh.
Remember Scotland is not that big and you could drive from Edinburgh to Oban in 3-4 hours easily.
This heat has definately gone to my head as I am now having difficulty in remembering places I have been a dozen times.
I will get back to you if not many other people reply with their suggestions.
Have fun !****************************0 -
If you're heading up the west coast i would defo go to Isle of Skye, cracking scenery and head for Portree, it's got some lovely wee shops and you can watch the boats come in so i guess they would sell sea food too.
Inverness is a great place to visit too lots of history but very touristy at this time of year.
Wherever you decide to go you'll find something to do and if the weather holds up.......................... well that's half the battle lol enjoy!!0 -
Hello dwhl
If you would like to see wildlife (dolphins, ospreys, otters etc) have a look at the Local MoneySaving sub board 'Scotland'. There is a thread 'Planning a hol in Scotland and like wildlife?' which might give you a few ideas as you plan your holiday.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride.
