The time limit should be provided (assuming u are a leaseholder being offererd to buy a freehold), i got offered 2 months.
  • Thanks for the responses, I will check with LEASE. I have read that a person must "act quickly" but this could mean anything

If they are offering you the opportunity to purchase freehold, they must provide a closing date, then those who want the freehold can buy it (I threw mine away, dont want the freehold), but they definitely have to provide a due date, then seek legal advice if u decide to progress.

Can anyone tell me what the time limit is for serving a notice on the new owner of a freehold which was sold without asking qualifying tenants if they wished to buy it? Many thanks.

    AJ1982 -

she was not offered her right of first refusal, & is asking how to claim it now. This is different to being offered & refusing

catgirl - you must check with everyone else in your building that they were not offered it and refused on your behalf. I spent a lot of money persuing this, as I wished to purchase my freehold, and wasn't told anything til after it was sold. Eventually, I found out another leaseholder had refused to buy it, which invalidated my claim  . I could have saved a lot of solicitors fees if I'd known that first.
