I know people who have a boat on their lawn. They and all the other residents in the cul-de-sac were sent letters reminding them of this covenant. This was about 8 months or so ago and its still there...

we have a covenant that states no merri-go-rounds in the front garden

(our front garden is too small to even fit a car on)
  • I always thought a covenant was only one sided and so you could only enforce it yourself, i.e. dont hang your clothes in the garden on a Thursday... only you could break it and only you could sue yourself??

If anyone can correct me or say im right Id be greatful. x

Anyways, often you find that properties with a communal entrance have rules banning pets... always wondered why though!

There was a covenant on a house we looked at saying no conservatories, and almost every house in the road had one. Is anyone likely to enforce it? By the time they do, the tenancy will probably have ended.

Illegal pets add spice to life (they are illegal so become more desirable)....inspection day comes and one has to hide them...except they sit on the window sill (in the rain) with their nose up against the window.

I have rumbled our tenants; they have an illegal dog (big one too) but they are good tenants and the house doesn't seem affected in any way.

Our letting agent sussed our cat on the first inspection (he was pawing the window, miaowing etc...and I'm saying...in a Mrs inocent, Middle England kind of way...oooooh..the neighbours cat is SUCh a pest)..but she checked the house.....clean, cat hair free , no scratch evidence etc.
My advice; wait and see unless you want out.
  • Just tell everybody that the dog is Polish and play the race card.

If the dog has responsible owners, the neighbours will have no cause for concern.
