Well I've just successfully opened and saved an Openoffice .odt document in Word 2007 using a free addin you can get. There'a also addins for Excel and Powerpoint. I can't find an equivalent to install in Openoffice.

Is it possible to copy and paste from an Open Office text document to an Open Office database? I am trying to index my collection of downloaded recipes and I cannot copy and paste in the MS Works Suite that I have (Works 2000) and to be able to do so would save me so much time.

Don't see why not. You can give it a try. (nothing to lose by installing it). And considering you're using Works 2000 I think you'll find it a huge relief to "upgrade" to the recent version of OpenOffice.
