Anyone got advice ?

I keep getting e-mails saying they are from the USA asking me to invest money or help them buying property !. I have no money and its worrying me that they are somehow going to get me in debt. I am on IB and DLA for clinical depression and schitzophrenia, and this isnt helping me. Thanks for listening to me, this is the e-mail i got today.

They are spam, just don't open them and delete them. I get loads of these every week, although mine usually originate from Nigeria or China and either want me to invest in oil companies or want me to assist them getting boxes containing millions of pounds into the country.

They aren't picking on you directly, they send thousands of these emails out every day in the hope that one or two people will reply. Just ignore them, delete them and eventually they'll tail off. If you don't reply to them or send them any of your details, there's no way they can get you in debt.

    Hi John
Agree with OP - I also get at least 3 per week.
I generally ignore and delete any e-mails where I do not know the sender.

However, occasionally I read some of the spam for fun - now I am not a great speela - you can have a laugh at some of the speelin and some of the crazy "schemes" they suggest.

This is the only way to treat spam - delete or laugh - they cannot touch you unless you reply or open attachments.

Keep smiling - laughter really is the best medicine - my wife was diagnosed with depression last year - she has come out the other side (most days) - laughing regularly definitely helps.

Don't worry about them - if you don't reply or open any links, they won't even know that your e-mail address is live, so there's no way they can harm your credit or get you into debt as long as you ignore them.

To help stop receiving them, see if your e-mail service has a spam filter that you can add their addresses to then these messages will go into a separate folder so you won't even have to look at them. Some also have a service where you can report them as spam - I know there is that option on my Hotmail, and I think most others have something similar.

Most importantly, don't let them worry you - I get thousands of these e-mails at work, and I just delete them and nothing has ever come of any of them!
  • Thanks im feeling better now, dont need any more debt.

Opening them won't harm your credit rating, but some of these emails can contain viruses that can do your computer a lot of damage, and can sometimes lead to your security being breached. Best thing to do is not to open any emails that aren't from a trusted source.

Just delete them. If I had answered everyone one I have had over the years, I'd have more money than the US banks put together

I was just responding to the OP's worry that he might somehow get into debt through these e-mails. As I said - there is no way of them even knowing your e-mail address is current let alone manage to get you in any financial trouble so long as you just ignore them.

As above, I get loads of these, I just add the addresses to junk mail and then delete them, don't want the cluttering up my inbox with all the other junk I have in there!
