Ebay "buy it now" question

I have set up an auction with a "buy it now" price. when someone bid on the auction my "buy it now" price was removed. I thought that that was a normal procedure. Then I saw that some sellers manage to keep the "but it now" price while the auction procedes like, For example.

Does anyone know how and why?

This is new the BIN price used to stay up throughout auction. I am really quite peeved the BIN price was valuable in that with careful price setting you could increase your turnover (ie sell 2 or more a week instead of one) I am terrified of increasing the supply by too much and pushing prices down. Margins are so tight as it is.

Think I'll push ebay on this a bit more.

AFAIK the BIN has always been lost as soon as the first bid is placed unless a reserve was in place.

    I don't think is new.
