I agree with a lot of the comments here, basic everyday living lessons should be taught! At school I was taught to sew a bag, embroider a material christmas card, bake lots of puddings & make cassette tape stands. I taught myself how to sew cloths when I was 17 & would mess around in the kitchen; but it wasnt until I was 21 & moved into my own place that I HAD to learn the basics, & it was a steep learning curve. I had to learn how to cook proper meals, sew buttons back on & turn hems up, even how to clean properly.
A few lessons at school would have would have helped. You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
Definitely the basics... children need to be taught what food IS, where it comes from, what it tastes like, what it costs, how to grow/raise your own, how it behaves when you cook it in various ways, and nutrition, as well as basic prep skills.
I think that teaching the principles of " rubber chicken " using a decent free range chicken should be an essential ! ie just how many lovely meals you can get off one bird and not to be afraid of picking all the bits off for soup etc !" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0 -
When I said gas 4 for 25 mins I actually guessed that so maybe go with your instructions.
Well you'll either get it right, burn it or get food poisoning from uncooked sausagemeat:o
 I don't want you to get food poisoning:eek:
The frozen pastry will only take about 12 - 15 mins to cook at 200C/gas 6 which is fine for the mincemeat slice/non meat items, but you must ensure the sausagemeat is cooked through to the middle.
After about 12 mins at gas 6/180C turn the oven down to gas4/180C and cook for another 20 minutes.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0
