Anyone know what unrc.bat file size 188 kb is, located in C:\\Windows\unrc.bat ?
AVG is coming up with virus warning as BAT/deleter, but no further information.
Friend has asked me about this, and can't seem to find out much about it. Any help would be great, as told her to put in virus vault for now and see what I can find out.
Thanks in advance

.Bat is a batch file that can contain commands to do certain things on your PC.
Safest thing to do is to rename it to umrc.bat.old. This will render it pretty useless but if you find things suddently stop working then you can rename it back and see if it fixes itself.
Other than that you could right click on it, select open with and choose notepad. Copy and paste the text on here if its not to long! Then we can see what it does.0 -

Take a copy of this file and rename it to unrc.txt Then you will be able to see exactly what it does when you view the file with notepad. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks both very much. Will get her to check that out.0

Unable to open file re-named to unrc.txt to notebook, comes up with warning "access is denied". Any further assistance please?0

Delete it unless you fancy switching off your anti virus so you can have a look inside the file. It's almost certainly a virus type file.Winnings

unrc.exe is listed as malware, but cannot find anything on unrc.bat.0

Thanks, but it's not on my computer, and didn't want friend to delete it, just in case it is something important. (I doubt it, but don't want to break her computer whilst on the other end of the phone!)0
