Old age, maybe but no trickery I had been married since I was 17 and had cooked for almost 26 years before I went on the course, I knew lots of the stuff they were teaching me, so in a way I had an bit of an unfair advantage. Even so the youngsters on the course were very much, oh we are great just passed our exams and brilliant..... I cannot tell you what a tremendous sense of achievement I got when my exam results came in with distinctions in all subjects for both years. :j :j ....... experience beats youth every time!!!!!
I ran my own business for a few years until we moved north of the border, I actually went into the Civil Service because the wages were better than in the catering trade although I did keep my hand in by running several open days for a National Trust garden we were involved in, I did all the catering for these and the special events we ran. I ended up working in the TV Studios catering for the staff and visiting artists and very interesting it was too...... Mark Lamarr gave me a china mug at the end of the Edinburgh Festival one year......... unfortunately it got broken during one of our moves.......

Im still a chef of 16yrs, very hard work but Im glad progs like Hells Kitchen etc have been shown as now the customers who whinge when a lettuce leaf is placed in the wrong place, can see what a stressful hard working job it is, and the wages are atrocious, but hell I still love cooking and the adrenalin rush that you don't get sittin in a chair for 8hrsThese are the Good 'ol Days just wait and see!0

My Mum and two of my brothers have all trained and worked as chefs...
My younger brother and I have only ever been roped in to help run the pub my step Dad owned... cheffing was never going to be my thing I just enjoy cooking for me!
Although I like to consider myslef pretrty good.. working a different shift at the moment so got home and had about 50mins with my OH before he had to leave for work and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will get to see him in the morning and tuck him into bed before I leave... Anyway, thought I would instruct him on how to start dinner and asked him to chop up an oninon and a couple of other bits and bobs...
We would have been able to sit down and eat slowly together if ~I had chopped it myself! Took him a good 10mins, bless. I have vowed to train and teach him some stuff!
Off now to have another ( ) oat and rasin cookie, I made on Sat... yummy!oooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0
