How to Appeal Refusal

in Credit cards
I have accounts with halifax, however I have been rejected for their credit card, I am a student but am employed with income of over £1k a month.
Would bringing my payslips prove my income and change their decision, also would it be more advisable to apply in person rather than online.

Just a few thoughts...
How old are you?
Are you living with parents still, or renting?
Are you on the electoral role (even at your parent's address)?
Are you a home owner?
Do you have a credit history?
Are you employed full-time, and sponsored through college?
How long have you worked for your employer?
Are your wages "guaranteed" or is it part-time/casual work/summer job?
On the subject of your "accounts with Halifax", one of these really needs to be a current account where your salary is paid to count towards your "score". If they're just ordinary savings accounts I don't think they will serve much purpose in proving your credit-worthiness.
Finally, I would recommend ringing their application helpline and ask them directly why they declined you.

Halifax rejected me for everything whenever I first applied as I don't seem to fit their preferred profile. When I separated from my ex and had to come off the joint account at Halifax they wouldn't give me a current account of my own - I had to have a Solo account - very upsetting at my age. Anyway, I eventually built up a relationship with them to the point where after 7 years, I had a current account, a 1k overdraft and 2k going into the account every month. Guess what, I was still refused their credit card account. I wrote to the department that sent me the refusal, pointing out my record with them, income, good credit rating etc etc and they changed their mind. It was the CC with the highest rate but as I only wanted the interest free 9 months it didn't matter. My point is, write to them saying what you've said here politely and there's every chance they'll change their mind. My guess is you don't fit their standard credit scoring so have been automatically refused. The majority of applicants don't appeal so go for it, you've got nothing to lose as they've already entered a search on your file.~A mind is a terrible thing to waste on housework~0
