Speed Aware Course to tell or not to tell

I did the course in Milton Keynes after being caught by Thames Valley Police, and the instructor specifically said that we didn't have to tell our insurance companies, although seeing other people's replies I'm wondering if this is 100% accurate or not! He also said the course is only offered to people up to a certain speed (in my case 36mph in a 30 zone). Any higher than that and you don't get a choice - just points and a fine.0

If you attend and pass the course (I don't think anybody fails!) then you don't get prosecuted, there are no points on your licence so there is nothing to tell your insurance company.
I went on one last year after being caught doing 35 in a 30 zone.
The notice I got from the Ayatollah at North Wales Police was a notice of intended prosecution - they have not prosecuted me (thanks to the course)so no need to inform them.0
