Should a ridge tile be cemented in?

We live in a new build house and have just added a garage. our ridge tiles are held down by a plastic section that fits between each of the tiles and is then screwed a lath below. The only cement on the roof is at the end (mostly for looks). Both the house and garage are the same (you can see the plastic pieces between the tiles) I know that this is the "correct" way to do it these days as my Dad is a foreman and was the one tiling the garage roof with me. :-)2022 win - Radiate Beauty Balm0
