Homeserve Plumber

Had a leak last night under the sink and wen we turned off the stopcock it is still leaking

Called homeserve as i have coverage with them

The plumber came fixed a connection leak and said the stopcock was leaking wasnt working and to fix it he would have to come back tommorow where it would be charged privatly at £80 as he didnt have the tools or part on him to fix it

Called this morning and asked about when the plumber is coming back she said she will try his number couldnt get through so said she would ring me back

I asked if it woudl be covered and she said it should be

Didnt ring back in an hour and a half so i rang them back to ask if they got through I was on hold for ages which the girl said sorry for she was asking him why he didnt do it last night and he told her he didnt have his tools

I asked it was covered and she said it definetly is covered by the policy

So why did the plumber say I would have to pay him £80+ privalty and if he is coming out today surely he is on there time

He also got my fiance when he took him outside (I couldnt go as my asthma was up0 and got him to sign a sheet saying the part he had done nothing to pay but on the sheet it says how many days it took

Dont know what to do if he asks for money today as they said it was covered but I didnt tell them he was trying to charge me

He signed the form you sign at the end to say that the work has been completed i think its the claim form as it has on the bottom that homeserve the plumber and you get one

I dont know why they went outside to sign it would have been easier to sign it inside he went outside to look for the outside water tap with him and got to sign it when it was out there

I woudlnt have signed it as he was coming back the next day but fiance only gave me it when he left

He did say the rest of the repair had to be done privatley (sorry spelling not usually this bad but im shaking a bit) and it would cost £80 + he tod fella this outside but Homeserve say it is covered

I expalained that the stopcock has a leak and wasnt working and he would fix it today

Fiance thought that it may not be covered under parts that need replacing to stop emergincies in future but it was part of the emergency

Dont know if to ring them when hes done or doing it if he tries to charge or just tell him they said it wouldnt cost anything

Sorry it says it took one day doesnt mention the stopcock I havent asked to speak to a manager, I will if he does try and demand money off me and wont listen to me when I have told him they said it is all covered

I hope that the lady on the phone that talked to him will have put him off asking if he knows they know the problem and has told me it was covered

I dont know if it is him thinking I wouldnt ask them or if it does need to be paid for though i have told them twice what he is coming back to do and im sure he must have told the lady on the phone when she was asking him why it wasnt finished last night as they must surely have a policy in place for them to tell homeserve when they are charging people

If there is likely to be a confrontation, will there be more than one person there? What about ringing them when he gets there and passing the phone to him (before he does any work) and getting him to clarify what is going on.

Homeserve phoned to say they would be a plumber calling this morning and that he would ring when he is on his way

Since they said before he had one jo to do then he would ring I hope its going to be a different guy

    My fiance will be there

I will mention the fact that they have said it is covered in the policy and then if he argues ring them

We had a VERY dodgy dealing with Homeserve, the 'allegedly' fixed our patio door, tried to get OH to sign for time spent and work done etc. Luckily OH spotted this on the form and crossed out all the details they had entered before signing. We were the harrassed for ages by NU for a payment for work done (excess).
They did absolutely nothing but luckliy had our copy of the signed contract as back up.

Well the plumber came and said that the stopcock has a leak inside so it doesnt fully turn off the water and needs replaced
The other leak was covered as part of the emergency but this one wasnt as they class it as wear and tear

They couldnt locate the external stopcock and said it would cost £100 to replca £80 parts and labour and £20 vat but more if they have to freeze the pipe

They said I should phone northumbrian water who should have a record of where it is

Called them and asked but they said that their plans dont show where expertnal stopcocks are and it would cost £103 is we wanted someone to come and find it today or £51 if we wanted them on a week day

I got lower estimates off other plumbers but that is if I can find the external stopcock which I dont have a clue how to locate
