can anyone help i need the above graphics card asap i have been quoted 120 pounds but i'm wondering if anyone can suggest anything either better for same or similar. Great forum lots of help already found.

That seems a very good price for a 256, I was searching around cheapest i could see was £171 and that was for a 128! ....Until I searched on ebay £85 for a 128mb card here , but I think you've got a good deal! Is it an online store may i ask? or a private sale? just being cheeky cos I like bargains!

The 9800 Pro is a very good card. If you want the best bang for your buck though the nVidia 6600GT is usually the most recommended. It comes in AGP and PCI-E versions for around £120-140.

You can pick up a 9800 Pro here for £82.

You don't really need the 256 MB memory. Buy this then flash the bios to a 9800XT for free. 200 quid's worth of performance for 80 quid!

the info. that you have given is great. My son, who's birthday pressie this is, has found that the Radeon I asked about is prone to burning out and he has decided to look for another so I'll recommend the nVidia 6600GT. danmanchester, sorry I didn't get back last night about the place my husband saw the card. We had a trauma with the dog! The place he saw it was Dabbs but he says it was the 128MB because it's a better buy than the 256 hope this helps.

Very few games take advantage of 256Mb over 128Mb. The cards with 128Mb tend to have faster memory than the 256Mb.

6600GT is a damm good card.
