Car accident and other driver denying all knowledge!

I had someone drive into the back of my car last year. My car had some damage and I suffered the dreaded whiplash. I got the details of the other driver (name, address, telephone number car description etc) Several months later the other car driver (after initially telling her insurance co that she did hit my car but caused no damage) has denied hitting my car stating that she braked and managed to stop before making contact. There investigators eventually got hold of her and took a statement in which she said she didn't hit my car.
I have a report from the accident repair garage and medical report as evidence of the damage.
I note that she is the policy holder and her partner is the registered keeper of the vehicle and named as an additional driver on the policy.
My insurance co will be issuing court proceedings soon and I was wondering whether anyone had experinced this before and why the person would suddenly deny all liability - in light of the evidence. Would it be due to the fact she is not the registered keeper?

Usual motive for lying like this is to try and preserve your NCD. Normally the issue of a court summons and the thought of perjuring yourself in a court (although 99.9% of cases never get that far) usually causes people to fold and admit they were to blame.
If she didn't hit the car, why did she presumably get out of the car and provide you with her details. You'd be forever getting out of your car to provide details, every time you pulled up behind somebody.0 -

just trying it on. dont worry. itll be sorted before the court date. very few peeps will actually lie when confronted by the court judge.
my DD was hit whilst stopped last year. driver tried the same trick by saying my DD was parked incorrectly.
court date was set and everything. other driver was trying to get my DD to accept 50% damamges. i told my DD to hold fire even though she wanted to settle to save a court appearance.
one day before the court date, she got a phone call to say the driver had accepted full liability.Get some gorm.0 -

I had similar thing, travelling into work at 8am one morning on a major A road, guy came out of a country lane travelling due west in an old Land Rover and ripped the side out of my car writing it off, first thing he said was sorry the sun was in my eyes (I never did know before that the sun could rise in the west), fortunately the person following me stopped to make sure no one was injured, gave me his name and address and said it was obviously the other drivers fault and was quite happy to be a witness for me.
I had to have a hire car so I could continue my work, until the claim was settled and I could find another car. His insurance wrote to say he was not at fault and they refused to pay for the hire car and would only settle knock for knock. I had legal protection and a barrister was employed, three days before it was due in court, his insurance backed down admitted liability and paid up in full.0 -
I've found in the past that it's the insurers who tell these porkies. I hit someone at a junction a few years ago, and was then phoned by the other party who said my insurers were claiming that he had hit me!0

Yep - I've had the same thing too, I was driving along when someone drove off the pavement, no signal and obviously didn't look and hit the side of my car.
Luckily I had legal protection, he tried to say it was my fault (!) and kept stalling, I got a letter saying he was holding me responsible but would settle knock for knock, as if they were doing me a favour.
The legal letter was sent, the court date issued - and lo and behold, it was suddenly all settled!
I always have legal protection put on my car insurance now.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
