Hi

My friend has one of the Dell £186 Deals and has only just set it up due to moving etc, Its been ok for the last 2 weeks and now the Monitor doesn`t seem to want to work. When she turns it on there is a blank screen and a continuous clicking noise. I pressume she wont be able to get it replaced as the pc was bought as a business machine. Any advice would be great, Thanks Guys( and girls) :D

sounds like it is not booting up,not the monitor, it will still be covered under the 12 month collect and return (don't worry about the business thing, the guy who collects won't ask...worse case I would argue that she has just started a business...how can they prove other wise ?? :) )

  • The monitor still has a 12 month warranty and should be replaced.
The clicking noise is a switch inside trying to start up the monitor; it needs a lot of power to start it up.
Take the monitor back and tell them it’s faulty? They should replace it straight away for you.

My monitor's gone funny too. It has diamond-shaped rainbow colours. Sometimes when I switch it off and immediately on again it clears up but now it won't budge :-(
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.
  • Looks like the tube has gone? Most of the time the tube goes or the switch inside.
The monitor builds up a massive charge to start the tube up and that why you here a noise when it starts up.
I’ve had two monitors go the same way with the tube? The picture goes funny then it goes off.
I bought two new ones because Crt are cheap, I have a 17 inch wide screen now
