    As I have posted on various threads on this board we had a homebuyers report carried out and the valuation came back £50K less than what we had offered due to the location and market conditions and the vendor was adamant she would not drop the price.

    Have now found a property in a much better location which was built in the seventies and has had a rear 2 stroey extension in the past 8 years.

    I'm now wondering whether to fork out for another report. I really don't think there will be a problem with valuation as the house was on at £290K a few months ago and has been reduced for a quick sale to £250K. It is in a very sought after village.

    The reason apart from the outlay is that when reading the report I already have it doesn't really tell you a great deal about the property.

    eg. "The electrical system should be inspected every 10 years so make sure you have it inspected by an approved electrical engineer."
    eg. "The combination boiler wasn't operating during my inspection so I can't comment on effectiveness."

    And lots of other vague statements.

    Is it worth it?

    Was the survey the best money I ever spent? The house was on for £250K and we offered full asking price as we fell in love with the house. Survey said it was worth £200K max. Nearly 12 months on and the same house is still on the market.............but at £150K :eek:
