We need a fence desperately there isnt one between 2 properties we have checked all plans etc and we know it is our neighbours responsibility to do this but they are not interested they dont actually live there so dont care they have tenants in.
its all open and you can see across all the gardens see tenants coming and going etc and there is no privacy. We dread another summer without a fence as we have a nice garden and we like to sit out alot. We dont seem to be able to make the neighbour put a fence up even though its his job and we simply cant afford to do it ourselves its quite a long garden.
We are on a low income is there any help available for fences anyone point me in the right direction please of anywhere i could get help. Thanks.

even if you make them do it, you would spend more on legal fees than erecting the fence itself.
just do the fence yourself and have done with it. make sure its on your side of the line.Get some gorm.0 -
i did say in my post we dont have the money and was asking about any grants?:footie:0

There is no law that says a garden must be fenced although sometimes(rarely) the deeds will state a covenant that there must one.
Unless the tenants have pets which wander onto your property then I don't think there is not much you can do about it.
I think grants are only available for agricultural land.

there are no pets but sometimes children playing ball out there the ball comes over and then they want to come onto garden they have damaged shed before now and washing line. We dont want them tramping all over our garden its private and damage can be and has been done. The owner is not hard up owns several businesses/bedsits but is too tight to do anything as dont live there they dont care.
Thanks for your help anyway i shall look at the website.:footie:0 -
There is absolutely no law whatsoever that will enforce your neighbour to have to erect a fence just because it suits you. At the end of the day, if he doesn't want to put one up there is nothing you can do.
On the plus side, have you thought of planting a quick growng conifer hedge. When you buy the plants small, they can then grow into a full hedge and all you have to do then is trim it back once or twice a year. It may take a couple of years to mature but will provide plenty of shelter.

You could complain to the landlord that damage has been done by his tenants and it might be in his best interests to erect a fence otherwise you will have to think about making an official complaint.
There is always Pyracantha http://www.hedgesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/pyracantha_red_berries.html?gclid=CIeY3pOTv5ECFQqwQwod1yScCQ0 -
thanks all we are going to have another word with him shortly see if he is interested otherwise it dosent seem there is much we can do until we have the money to do it ourselves, what with trying to afford everything else its a struggle. Perhaps if he lived there himself he might be more interested.:footie:0
