for some reason I thought the UCAS side of things had until mid February but it 'ended' on the 15th Jan... so bit of a panic.

I'll go through my statement tonight and get that sent to my OU tutor to have a check through at the weekend.

If you still need your personal statement checked and ideas of what to add to it i'm part of another forum https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk and if you scroll down to "ask a PS helper" they're usually very good with personal students (they're students that are already part of the course, so no plagiarism)

you can still apply through ucas extra which shouldnt be too bad

    good luck

I think the course I'll be doing is very popular - digital media!

Ideally I would like to do more design type work but I don't have a portfolio so it's difficult to give 'job titles' - I've also worked for 21 years... and bored with the whole job title thing! if that makes sense. :o

the whole point of going to University is to give myself more options.

I think if you have study skills and confidence in your skills then you can pretty much do anything - also constructive feedback helps which you don't get in the work environment... I've never got any training or feedback just had to get on with it! which was strange as all the graduates got full training and then I had to train them too!?!?!?!?!? guess who got paid soooo much les and still had to do all the urgent work :o

well... I've got the draft done (another version - better than the last one I did) and I'll get that sent to my OU tutor... I'll have a look around paperclip's suggestions of the Studentroom.co.uk site.

I really want to get the UCAS bit done by the end of the week at the latest.

thanks for you help and suggestions - it has helped a lot.

ps: what is UCAS extra - apparently it starts on the 26th February - what's the difference between that and submitting my forms before that date?
ah... not to worry found this.

You need to apply through the standard UCAS and be aware that they'll know you have applied late and do not have to give your application equal or any consideration (especially if it's an oversubscribed course).

Your personal statement should draw on all of your experience and how that will make you a perfect future [graphic designer, solicitor, midwife..insert future career here].
I agree with cannygal. It's a few years since I did my UCAS application, but as I remember, it's a bit like what you would write on the 'Any Other Relevant Information' section on a job application form. Like cannygal says, what would make you a good student for that institution? Not just to turn up, but to stick at it, and achieve good grades. Include any relevant experience/work/hobbies, talk about your personal skills, etc etc
