Advice for cosmopolitan holiday with the girlfriend!

Hi,

Went on a holiday to Cala Dor (Majorca) last year and really enjoyed it. Our accomodation was 10 mins walk distance to the marina which was really romantic at night and had loads of restaurants.

It was a very couple orientated place (eg no huge groups of drooling lads!).

Looking for a holiday to Spain/Portugal or Greece in Aug/Sept. Would really like somewhere with some classy bars maybe clubs, lovely beaches, good restaurants and cosmopolitan feel!

Can anyone recommend specific areas in Spain Portugal or Greece or others?

Many thanks!
Filiss

Sorrento was fab, IMHO. The pizza and homemade ice-cream were delicious too! We did an overnight trip to Rome and a day trip to Capri and the unmissable Amalfi (Coast) Drive. DH agrees with me too.

I would look at Villamoura in Portugal and Porto Banues (?) nr Marbella in Spain.

Both have marinas with classy restaurants and bars.

Thanks all. Is Villamoura extremely expensive?

We were there in March and I thought it was dearer than last time 2 years ago but still reasonable and you can find less expensive places if you need to keep costs down. The good thing is the restaurants almost always display their pricelist out front so you can decide before you go in if it's within your budget.

Santorini in the Greek Islands is worth a look. Very romantic, stunning sunsets, classy. There are some very good boutique hotels there too. The only downside is the beaches are black sand (due to the volcano that exploded 4k ago!) But still well worth a trip I went a few years ago, but a friend has just returned from his honeymoon and raved about it.

I agree with Researcher. Santorini would be a great choice.

I have only been to Santorini for a day (on a cruise) but it is lovely I must agree, I have a friend who has been several times and she raves about it too.
