WTC income changed, please help

Hi, I was hoping for some advice. Me and my partner have a joint WTC claim and currently receive about £55 per week. This was based on our joint earning for the tax year untill April 2007 of £9500. This seems correct as I checked their website. Since then our income has changed and now our joint income stands around £14500. Obviously our payments will go down when we renew our claim to probably around £10 per week. Just to put my mind at rest we wont have to pay any of the tax credits back will we as we filled in the form correctly at the time and although our income has gone up, our claim is based upon the previous years income, thats right isnt it? Could someone please be able to shed some light on this as I received a letter through the post this morning asking have out payments changed, thanks.

    Yes, that is correct.

I would inform them now though, if I were you (well I did when our income went up in November!) just so that they won't begin overpaying you in April.

They won't change your current award, but will alter your payment schedule from April so it kicks in straight away when the new tax year starts. It can take time to renew your award and so anything they overpay after April and while they are sorting it will have to be paid back - best avoided imo.
