My Fujifilm Finepix digital camera will take very short movies, I want to send one by email to a friend, as the friend does not have broadband what is the best way to do this ?
I tried sending it to myself, it took ages as AVG was scanning it as it went, I am on broadband so I didn't like to send it if it was going to take a long time.
I use Irfan View to compress the pic's before I send them, does it work the same way with the movies ?

If you have Winzip, you can use this to compress the movie some more. Your friend will need to unzip it at their end.
My cousin lives in Australia. To let her see large files, I upload them to the free space I get with my ISP, then send her the address to download them. Today, I uploaded a 30MB film clip of my nan. It will take a while for her to download, but I find this is easier than emailing them. A lot of email providers have a size limit on the size you can send in one. You could always upload a zip file to free webspace if you get this with your provider. Your friend can download the file straight from your web address. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Thank you Donnie and 3Dom
I have experimented with you sendit by sending it to myself and it worked fine, I have made a note of all the web sites, they are very useful to know about.0 -
Look at Orb, its won loads of awards.
It sets up your comp as a server for streaming movies, music & pictures to anywhere. Its secure too because it requires a username and password.
I leave my comp on all the time so it is very useful to me. I can listen to all of my music collection at work using any browser.
My relatives all over the world can look at my family pictures and when they have installed it I can do the same. Share your stuff for free.

Just go install it and see for yourself.

Just remember to be careful with this sort of thing running from your home computer, as some ISPs may have a clause in their terms and conditions saying that you cannot use your internet connection for this purpose.
It might be worth a quick call to your ISP before setting this up, to check your internet connection won't be suspended!Nelly.t wrote:Look at Orb, its won loads of awards.

Good point Tiger, it looks like a good idea, but I should hate to lose my connection, I would suffer horrible withdrawal symptoms ;-)0

I doubt you will get much compression with movies as they are already compressed. Most cameras save movies in Apple Quicktime format which is quite a compressed format.0

Er just one point turn off AVG for scanning outgoing emails as you dont
really need it, i.e If you recieve an email a scan will let you know if its infected, and sending a mail message, the recipient should have email scanner there end, also the mail you send shouldnt be mailcious.
Not only that a server will time out when it has received no packets
of information, this happens when a message has been sent but
is being scanned for ages because its a big file.
To Turn off AVG outgoing email scanning.
Right click AVG Icon in System Tray, Launch AVG Control Center,
click E-mail Scanner once, Then Click Properties, Then Configure, now take out the tick in, Check Outgoing Mail.0
