I thought that reddish/pink stain present in shower basin might have originated frompigment from grout but it appears on newly tiled other bathroom and around base of taps. Think its coming from hot water.
New condensing boiler Oct 06. Worcester greenstar 30cdi. Some plastic pipe installed to run water to new rads and bathroom in a new extension in addition to old CH supply. Never noticed this before. At this rate I'm going to have to keep touching up grouting and any sealant...
Any suggestions as to cause? Soft water area in Cumbria..

I had a kinda 'pink' colour mould in an old bathroom I had , the only thing that got rid was watery bleach , not the thick kind the old fashione thin stuff...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

need to know why it is appearing. it is around rin of sink plughole, some on shower basin and some on grout on tiling (install oct 06). Used good quality grout recommended for wet applications even in swimming pool installations.
this might sound daft (yes, you all say) but is it possible for new copper pipe to cause this initially?0 -

I think it is mould and it occurs around the taps and plughole because these areas tend to be the last to dry out. If you wipe around these after use you will probably stop it occuring. We get it too but it comes off easily enough.0 -
ok. Sounds like we just gotta keep on top of things.
No panic then. So many problems with extension build I am getting paranoid.0 -
I'm sure I've seen a thread on this before. I seem to remember that a suggested reason was iron in the water supply? Not a problem with pipes, just that that is the kind of water you have. I suppose you just have to keep on top of the cleaning...0
