  • Well this was yesterday! I phoned bank to complain about charges to my account, one for failed direct debit (taken on wrong date) and one for being overdrawn for a few hours! Got them deleted so I'm happy!

Todays plans are to work on Feb Budget and get bills all sorted out.
Cancel Mobile Phone insurance - been humming and hawing about this one for ages
    Pay rent
Decide on Grocery spend for Feb and either do internet shop or big store shop on Friday.

    Afternoon all,

    Done clicks.
Cancelled home and contents insurance. Bought cheaper insurance through Quidco :D
    Banked cheque from Ebay sale.
Got DH to ring round insurance companies, as he's changing his car on Saturday. Car is much better on fuel etc, but current company will only drop monthly payment by £30. He's got a quote that will drop it by £60 a month. Lots of debts to be cleared with that money :T

Won't be posting for a few days as I've got 4 days off from tomorrow, as it's our 1st anniversary on Saturday :j Think this may slightly affect our debt paying, but it only comes once a year. Will make sure we do lots of free things and enjoy ourselves without going OTT. Just being away from work for 4 days is good enough for me x

    * Did overtime at work
    * Put my name down for loads more overtime at work
    * Bought lots of reduced chicken to put in the freezer

  • Hi all :hello:
I have cancelled my overdraft, that's a big one, I keep hearing horror stories of other people having their bank cancel them, and read someone else post about living off the bank's money every month, so have paid it off with my salary today and emailed HSBC to close it, am one step closer to being free from them! Though I think I will keep the account open to see what happens in the bank charges case :money:
Thanks for all the other posts, there are some great ideas coming from them! :T

    Hi everyone,
I've been flying around like a headless chicken for the past few days, and I've lost track of my spending diary and mealplanner, but the mealplanner includes one takeaway per month, and today is the 31st, and we haven't had one yet, and the kids have elected not to have one tonight either!
Have worked loads of overtime, but I don't get paid for it, however I can take double the time back for anti-social hours worked - so I now have an extra day to take whenever I want! I feel a duvet day coming on! (that's sort of DFW, isn't it?!)
Feb's mealplanner is done, but I'm going to go through it again and tweak it. So far it's looking about 30% less than January's:j
I also now have to arrange to get a new kitchen in asap... I've been putting it off because it will mean huge upheaval for a week or two (have to lay a new concrete floor also). The (old) fridge freezer is terminally ill, in fact it's already been brought back from the dead once, but now I think it's kinder to change it's status to DNR...
Last night my drier almost went on fire - started billowing huge clouds of thick white smoke from the back and top - filled the kitchen up in minutes... so it's now also past it's sell-by date.
Definitely will not be a dfw weekend, but will get a very good discount on fridge freezer, drier and might as well get the hob and hood now too for when the kitchen's in...
Managed to get a parking ticket this morning - but it was totally my own fault so I have to suck it up - €40:eek:
On the bright side, I managed to get the clothes dried on line today (in gale force winds and between hail showers!). I also had a nsd (well, apart from the blimmin' parking ticket!) DD1 made risotto at school today, so dinner tonight is her treat!
Very dramatic few days, TCIF tomorrow!
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
