Would anyone consider investing in property in Florida now? Prices seem quite low to me (many sub £100k) Cheers

Probably a very good time to buy. However, renting out the property when you are not there can be very difficult. American's will haggle over rents fiercely. You may also need your own web site to market the property.

Have you seen the price of flights ?

We stay on Disney properties, Animal Kingdom so a 5* hotel in 2008 for the same price as they now want just to fly you over there.

Here we are three years on and prices are still falling...i wonder if the op bought... prices still have a long way to go yet as the glut of properties for sale and foreclosed are eye watering..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

This is what people said before the wall street crash..most lost the shirts off their back after thinking prices could not fall further..they did another 90%..:T:T some people should not be let near money..

Actually I'm down in Florida at the moment buying a property overlooking the sea which is down 70 per cent from its 2006 price of nearly half a million dollars.

As ever the key to success is location, doing your research and predicting when the currency exchange rates are favourable which they are at the moment.

Resarch is helped by the huge amount of readily available and accurate information on the internet and talking to people on the ground - the general view here among people and something that I've discovered is the prices have reached the bottom, have been stable for a while and are even rising in the good areas.

And some things remain constant about Florida such as the weather and quality of life.

The forecast today is 85 degrees and sunny.

How are you getting on now?

I wouldn't believe any locals as it's in their own interest to say prices have reached bottom so that they may go up again?
