tax credits - do they ever answer the phone??

I must have called the tax credits people about 10 times today, it's always engaged. I pressed 5 for a ring back and after an hour, they've just called me back. The phone rang for AGES then I got cut off :rolleyes:

so does anyone know when's best to call them? do they ever answer the phone???

The phones are red hot today. There is deadline tomorrow for some applicants to give some info to TCO so it is obviously very busy. The best times to call is usually at 8am when they open or around 8.45 Mon-Fri during the "school run time".

I phoned yesterday at 8.40am and got thru straight away. Day before tried at 7.30 - 8pm but they kept cutting me off.

There is really no point in calling after dinner time if you arent patient enough to wait quite a long time. Most people are back from work or have picked up the kids from school and fed them then decide to call up.
There is a low number of staff after 5.30 so it is going to take longer.

what info had some people had to give in ??
was it some of us or all of us has i have not had any letters ?

For the last annual declaration, if you gave an estimated income figure you had to give the actual figure by today.
If you had already given the details you would not have been contacted.
