Has this happened to you?....Selling Dilema...

I decided to sell my oak sewing box/table.

Polished it, took loads of photographs, started to prepare the listing, uploaded the photographs and the started to describe it.

Thats were the problem lies. :o

As I started to describe it I realised I was using words that evoked memories of the enjoyment I'd had from this little wooden sewing table/box.
Although earmarked to be sold for some while and not used, I found I liked the sound of this piece of furniture as I described it. I would buy this myself.

I was so certain when I started and now I'm undecided.

Sell something else and find it place to live in the house again.

Will have to make a list of pros and cons.

Has this ever happened to you and if so, what did you decide to do?

Unless you carry out proper checks to make sure it's going to a loving home, I think it has to live with you. Sometimes sentimentality is the appropriate response.
  • We decided as our baby outgrew clothes etc we would sell on things we would no longer need.

We sold a bundle of 3 really nice sleep suits to a lady in Germany. However a month or so later my wife was really upset and kept dreaming about one of them as it was the first one our daughter wore after her birth and indeed the one she came home from the hospital in.

We were able to explain this in broken German (using Google!) to the buyer who sold us back the sleepsuit and it went in a treasured memories box of baby related things (first shoes, newspaper from the day of her birth etc).

However I'm also one of these people who believes if you're not using it or it's just clutter then ditch it. So I suppose my response would be, is there some other way or item you could use to cherish those memories enabling you sell on something which you had already decided to get rid of?
