Money stuck in Joint account

Hello Everybody
I have had £12 stuck in an Abbey National Joint account now for about 11 years.
The problem is that I split up from my partner about 8 years ago and I have no idea where she is or how to contact her, its as if she has vanished off the face of the earth.
I had forgotten about this for years but after finding an old statement I wondered if there was any way of making a claim for this money without her signiature. (The money is actually mine anyway but The withdrawal book requires both of us).
Does anyone know of anything or does that money just have to stay in the bank forever because my former partner can not be traced.
Cheers

About 10 years old I had a joint account with a friend as we bought a house together and we opened a joint instant access account with the Abbey.
I had to get her to sign a form to get the account closed or my name removed. I am not sure if I ever did it. I must have done as last time asked in the bank they had no knowledge of that account.
Your might be able to take the money out but not sure if you can shut the account down with out there signature.
Why not pop in ask them.
Yours

Yeah I probably will call in and see what they say, I just wondered if anyone knew of any similar instances.

If Abbey also cant contact the 2nd account holder that would certainly strengthen your claim.God save the King!
