Why dont capital one take debit cards?

I wish Capital one would take Debit card payments! I have a Halifax debit visa card and I cannot use it to pay capital one?
Is there any other credit card companies like this? I now have to pay by direct debit but it would be easier to pay by debit card.
I'm not poor i'm just skint

    Ditto

My time, my convenience, don't do the DDR route either.

But do find it odd they don't take a debit card.

If you have a Halifax visa you must have an account with them so just pay online.
It usually takes five WORKING days to be sure they get it on time.
Like you I would prefer to pay by debit card, when I enquired they said it was coming "shortly".

Quite a few CC companies will take DC payments: HBOS, RBS, Goldfish, Citibank etc.
  • Why do you want to pay by debit card rather than by direct debit?

Possibly because it avoids the possibility of 'balls-ups' - I've never used DD for credit card payments because it's a certainty that something will go wrong at some stage.

Then there's those that have a DD, make a manual payment instead (two payments are made), then come on here to moan about how it's not their fault.

Debit cards hand the power back to you - if you've had a difficult month money wise you can decide what to pay them. DD is a set amount.

As the above poster explains...that's why i decided to pay using instant bank payment online...

it does take some memory on your part to make the payment, where as DD comes out if u forget...but if funds aren't available, for whatever reason, they are inflexible.....where as i can wait a day or two using the online banking method

Luckily (or unluckily as it could seem) I have learnt from past expereince not to 'forget' these type of payments, so I have not got late payment fees......yet lol

"RS :- I have always used DD nothing has ever gone wrong."

"RS :- Never mind what other people might or might not do. Keep to the matter in hand. Don't go off into one. "

RS :- "DD is not a set amount.
It can be the whole amount outstanding. Or the miminum amount that meets the Credit Card Company terms and conditions."

Minimum amount in Ts & Cs = set amount
    Outstanding balance = set amount

Either way it is inflexible for most people who spend most of what they earn each month.
