Taking on the big guns!

So, I've had some debt hanging over my head since the age of 18, at the age of 18 I had 3 credit cards with a combined limit of £24k!

Like any other 18yr old, I spent it.

Bad move - I then at the age of 21 tried to enter into an IVA which my creditors would not agree too and it was through a 'get ourselves rich off the misery of others' company. So I then done what most others do, stuck my head in the sand.

Finally, most of the debt has been paid/written off now 7 years later, with Credit Resource Solutions trying to get £5050 off me which is statute barred, I've written to them and informed them of this, I have also informed them they will be reported for harassment if the letters continue.

Then before Christmas my Capital One credit card was used fraudulently for over £400 which I duly reported, however they said I was responsible for the debt as I had kept my card safe. Yeah thanks Capital One. So I refused to pay and followed their complaint procedure, 12 weeks later and still no response so they have set Debitas after me. I have written asking them for the CCA and informed them if the letters & phone calls don't stop then they too will be reported.

The important thing is I have NEVER acknowledged debt to either of these companies.

I have always tried to repay my debts as it was my own fault, but for the two above, since they acted like rottweilers, they will be treated with my upmost contempt and I will fight them all the way.

As a footnote, do you not think the age you are should determine your credit limit? i.e. no more than say £250 for an 18yr old?

As it's been more than 12 weeks since you last heard something from them you can ask the Financial Ombudsman Service to look at your complaint.

From the info on their website it seems like you should have had contact from them initially within five days and then within four weeks.

Details of their complaints procedure and FOS details can be found here:

    Good luck with everything.
