Door Bell Question

This is proabably a really daft question but door bell wire, is it just like speaker cable? Could i use old speaker cable?

The wire for the bell is called bell wire

I would say you probably can but not 100% certain

I have a full roll of proper bell wire that I didn't need when I replaced my door bell - the old wire was still good so didn't need the new wire. You can have it if you want. Just send me your address in a PM and I will pop it in the post for you.

Wire is wire, as long as it conducts it will do the job. the speaker wire will be very similar just of a higher quality.

Have you thought about using a Wifi doorbell ? There's lots of reasonably priced ones on the market now. They do away without having to rewire your current bell
