Happened to spot this one and thought it quite a bargain.

Again, sorry for the affiliate code in the middle but it seems to be part of the deal.

I agree I took Vista off my 2gb dual core Dell and put XP back on and not only runs smoother but the battery runs muhc longer about by 45 mins as the cpu isn't running much on idle in XP about 2% compared with 8-10% on Vista idleif you get this for the love of god get xp! vista is horrendous, doesn't trust you and is so slow. at £316 deld the Vostro 1000 is faster but with 120GB disk and 2GB ram. (select the £269 onefor the Amd TL60)
The Amd TL60 is slower than the Core 2 Duo 1.8 but beats the 1.4 by a good margin.
£376 deld with 3 years support.
Of course with XP the 3GB ram simply gives less battery life.
Dont forget quidco for that extra 5%Moneysaving Expert do not reply to requests regarding deleting membership.

It depends what you're doing with it. It will increase performance with memory-hungry apps. But if you're just surfing the web and writing the odd email and document... you should be using an Eee anyway.alanwarwic wrote: »Of course with XP the 3GB ram simply gives less battery life.
That's because Vista is constantly snooping on you to see if you're trying to pirate something.poppycat wrote:cpu isn't running much on idle in XP about 2% compared with 8-10% on Vista idleTime is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
