Happened to spot this one and thought it quite a bargain.

should be a quick computer with XP on it.

if you get this for the love of god get xp! vista is horrendous, doesn't trust you and is so slow. Thats a great deal, worth a few extra tenners for the faster CPU

I agree I took Vista off my 2gb dual core Dell and put XP back on and not only runs smoother but the battery runs muhc longer about by 45 mins as the cpu isn't running much on idle in XP about 2% compared with 8-10% on Vista idle

at £316 deld the Vostro 1000 is faster but with 120GB disk and 2GB ram. (select the £269 onefor the Amd TL60)
The Amd TL60 is slower than the Core 2 Duo 1.8 but beats the 1.4 by a good margin.

£376 deld with 3 years support.

Of course with XP the 3GB ram simply gives less battery life.

Dont forget quidco for that extra 5%

It depends what you're doing with it. It will increase performance with memory-hungry apps. But if you're just surfing the web and writing the odd email and document... you should be using an Eee anyway.

That's because Vista is constantly snooping on you to see if you're trying to pirate something.
