Have laptop using Belkin wireless router, all ok.
I now have a desk top and have fitted and installed wireless card to it. I use NTL BB but never got an install disc when BB was installed, the installed said it would be posted out but he manually did it to my laptop and all was fine. The new desk top is connecting to my router but cannot connect to internet. Is thit because i don't have NTL disc and if so can i d it manually from the settings on my laptop? HELP! please talk as if your talking to an idiot as i may understand that..
Thanks in advance

Can the desktop see the laptop and vice versa?
You'll probably need to tell the router to use the cable modem as the gateway to the internet.
I'm not sure if the NTL cable modems have a DHCP server (I'd guess not)
open a command prompt on each machine and type IPCONFIG /ALL press enter/return and paste the results back here.
Further details of how it's setup would be useful e.g. is the cable modem connected to the router.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I currently have a PC (Windows 98) (which is upstairs) with a wired connection to my NTL set top box (which is downstairs) for internet connectivity. I want to add a laptop into the equation and permit internet access from it. Can anyone suggest which wireless products I now need to get to this set-up both in terms of ease of set-up and cost and recommedations in terms of suppliers. Thanks,0

The ntl cable goes into the modem and then goes to the router.blinky wrote:Can the desktop see the laptop and vice versa?

you need to enter this from a command prompt, looks like the old DOS. Easy way is to click the start menu button, choose run, and type cmd. Once in the prompt type in the command as suggested.0
