Corn on the cob?

Oh Yum! I love corn on the cob. As pink winged says, you strip the leaves and boil until tender.
However, I also wanted to mention that you can get these frozen (at Morrisons they are £1.39 for four). Obviously if you can get fresh, then get fresh, but if they are unavailable/too expensive, then frozen is an option

I always roast mine. I cook them in boiling water first for about 3 minutes, then put them in a roasting tin with some olive oil, salt and black pepper. Then roast them at 200 or so for around half an hour. The advantage of this method is that they can't really overcook and they get a more intense flavour, which is great if they weren't wonderful ones to start with. I haven't tried this with frozen cobs, I don't know if it would work (you would need to defrost them first, par-boiling wouldn't be necessary).Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

they are 3 for 50p in asda (fresh too) at the moment.
was going to get some this morning but wasn't sure how to cook them!I heart The Capital0 -
If you have cobs with the full set of leaves or sheath just microwave on full for around 4 minutes , the leaves act like a pressure cooker and steam the cob , then use a cloth to strip off the sheath as it will be scalding hot . Rub a piece of butter over it and season with a little salt and lots of black pepper. Perfect every time !

That's great, thank you! They have leaves on (half price at Tesco earlier this week!) but not the whole way round so I might try to find some with more leaves next time for nuking in the microwave! Thank you everyone! :j0

A grower in our local farmers' market always says to cook them this way, although he says 3 minutes maximum. (Mind you, this might be because he is selling within 24 hours of picking)0 -
I take all the leaves and stringy bits off then i pop them on the grill until golden brown. Serve wth lemon juice or butter or both...they are lovely and can be BBQ'd the same way.0

I love them BBQ'd. I use a pastry brush to coat them in olive oil first and sometimes spinkle them with dry chilli flakes (about 69p in Aldi)LBM-29/08/07
