Just got an increase on &More - how?

I posted a few days ago that &More offered me a 0% balance transfer for 6 months after months of previously only offering me a best price of 9.9% for 6 months.

Now my limit was only £500 which is naff all use really to do a balance transfer. So I asked them a few days ago to increase it to £2000 and they said no, but the system would only allow it to go to £750, not much use but better than £500, just.

I just phoned up now and asked for an increase again and was declined, again. This time I asked why and the call centre guy said he would put me through to someone else who could help.

He duly did this and I spoke to a lady who said she couldn't increase it any further unless I wanted to undergo a credit check. I thought about it and just said 'yes, why not'. She then said that she would be checking EQUIFAX and then came back on the line and said she could increase it to £2000 after all. :T

What I'm wondering is how on earth I passed a credit check? I have checked my Equifax file and although all my payments are made on time and I have no late payments in the last year or so, I do have a default on my file. It is settled but it is a default.

Anyway, apologies for the long-ish thread, hope my information helps someone as so many people have done for me on this fab site. :D

    Hello

This is useful to know. I am still waiting on my &More Card and I am worried about the credit limit they are going to give me as I have £2500 I need to move from another card. I am also worried as they have sent me a second lot of agreement forms and I am wondering whether I will be in the 30 day timeframe for the BT offer of 0%.

    Thanks for this.

    I've been Money Tipped!
They just sent me a letter the other day offering me 3.9% for a life of balance transfer. Just cleared the balance after it being on 0%. When it was store card I had basic £500 and then when they converted to a credit card they stuck it up to £5,000.

I still have my store card, that only has a £500 limit on it too. I was wondering when they were going to phase it out.

I still use it quite a bit though, that is one card that I pay off in full each month as the APR is stupid.

I didn't upgrade my Barclaycard. I am still credit card shuffling as best I can with my record.
